(More customer reviews)I've used the HEPA filters for at least 5 years like this and they really help keep dust down to a minimum. We also have a high traffic area with a high shedding dog who really contributes to shedding in the house. This has been a tremendous contribution to pure air in our house. It also helps filter out odors in our large livingroom.
I change this larger filter every 2 years and change the prefilter every 3 months. It's surprising how much dirt is in the air when I change the filters.

14ALL/83125 Sears/Kenmore Cut-to-Fit Replacement Carbon Pre-Filter Review

(More customer reviews)This filter is the same high quality that came with the original Sears air purifier. I have a large older model Kenmore HEPA 220 and I could only get one filter out of this package after cutting about one third of the material away, but it fit well, was easy to trim and then install to the purifier and even if I only got one filter out of it, the price was MUCH more reasonable than the Sears site or buying brand name. I recommend this filter for anyone who has the correct purifier and doesn't mind trimming the filter (all you need is normal household scissors, nothing fancy). Breathe well!

And shipping weight is NOT 3 pounds. It's more like 1 at most.

(More customer reviews)I've owned this filter for about 2 years and have generally been quite pleased. It could be quieter, but hey, it's only a $50 filter. It does clean the air pretty well, judging by the filter. Some reviewers for Holmes products complain that they need to clean the unit. This unit stays very clean. Just a note however - when I purchased this two years ago, either my manual for the filter or the filter itself said to replace the filter every 3 months (I can't remember which). Since they were $60 each, I didn't do that and have replaced it about every 6 or 7 months. Well, I went to purchase a filter and they now say they last 1-3 YEARS with normal use. They have pre-filters that need to be changed every three months. This is a big money saver!

(More customer reviews)I purchased this as a 'project item' meaning to customize it for my own uses. It arrived exactly as described, and faster than I expected. It is a semi-coarse, self supporting filter media embedded with carbon. It cuts easily with boning shears to fit some obsolete or custom blower units. I use it as a secondary filter after a large particle filter and before a HEPA style filter for a continually dusty area. I feel it works well for my situation.

(More customer reviews)I found this to be good for replacing the carbon filters in my range hood. I can probably get about ten filters out of one sheet. I cut them oversized and fold them over the old filters, then slide them into place. The retainers hold the new material in place.
