Honeywell HHT-080 Permanent HEPA Tower Air Purifier Review

(More customer reviews)My wife loves her cats (multiple), and her dogs (also multiple); she mostly tolerates the kids and me. This winter my allergies were reaching critical mass. My wife gave me this Air Purifier for our room, as a Christmas present, and it has been amazing. One side note, the device puts out a good deal of white noise, personally, I like that, as it helps me sleep, others might find it annoying. My next step is to get them for every other room.
I highly recommend this product.
Update...
This unit worked fine for about a year, then it just died.
While it was worth the cost for the service it did provide, I was a bit disappointed in the durability.

I have used and researched many air purifying technologies and have found the only two safe and effective methods to be HEPA and or UV Light units. As previously stated by others in this review the unit is noisy on high setting. However, it has a soothing white noise sound on medium and low. In one of the reviews it was mentioned that this unit did not produce a smell like the Sharper Image products. The smell that they were talking about is actually ozone which is a harmful pollutant and is believed to cause lung problems and even increase chances of lung cancer. That is something not to be taken lightly. The Hunter does not produce that awful stuff.

Used it for a few days in the kitchen and bathroom - it does wonders! What surprised me the most was we have a smoker in the house and this machine removed the cigarette smell just over night. I bought three of these six years ago and two are still working fine. The third one has started to switch off after about an hour of being turned on. Since I have never opened and cleaned it, that could be the reason but in any case, I am going to buy a new one anyway.
About people's fear of ozone, it is totally unfounded. I am a research scientist and I tested the very first prototype of such a machine in Switzerland in collaboration with its inventor. It was a beautifully built unit targeting the private home market after being used in laboratories and in hospitals. It made the inside of my home smell as fresh as the mountain air outside. I also slept better at night.
I keep them on "low" all the time with the occasional boost of "high" if I cook with onion or garlic - or if I burn the toast.
Now some 25 years later, I still surprise Realtors and visitors who come to my home and find it shared with two cats and a dog that they can see but not smell.
I strongly recommend this technology and these particular units for their affordability and their reliability.
I would have a problem living without such units.
