(More customer reviews)I have had a little Holmes air cleaner in the back room with the litter box for years, but this year Target no longer stocked the filter, nor did any of the other local stores I checked out. I found it here at the best price and it was delivered rapidly and fit perfectly. I can use that room again. Silly how little furry things can make such an unpleasant atmosphere! I did not want to purchase another blower box just because the filters were no longer easily available, but ordering through Amazon is easy enough and I have not had any problems.

HEPA-5030 Duracraft Air Cleaner Replacement Filter Review

Reason being is because of the misery of allergy season and declared that I wasn't going to suffer through this again. I have discovered since the first purchase that one needs to have one purifier for the living room and another one for the bed room.
Replacement filters are still available on line; just search for Duracraft 5030.
We have three dogs and the dust and dander was getting to be a real problem in our house. So we brought the Duracraft out of the garage ( it was mothballed) purchased a new filter and now we are in business again.
The Duracraft Hepa 260 which is identical to the Honeywell HEPA 200, has three speeds; Super (near hurricane strength) High and Silent. We run ours on High. Now it's only fair to warn you that the 260 moves a lot of air with it's powerful motor; which is louder than our Honeywell 18155 but that is a good thing. I we want a powerful motor to exchange as much volume of air as possible; also compared to the 18155, the Duracraft has more intake vents and moves more air too.
The 260 has an optional ozone switch; the jury is still out as to the pros and cons of that issue; but at least you have that option available to you.
The only thing that's missing would be a change or clean filter lights like on the 18155; but that is a minor issue. We prefer the Duracraft 260 over the Honeywell 18155 by far and it's a disappointment it is no longer available.
We vacuumed the 260 when the filter looks dirty thus saving $$$ n a new filter. Which doesn't seem to effect it's performance. TRUE Hepa filters are still available at iallergy (online) if you search duracraft 260 or model 5030.
AHAM rateing for this unit is 170 for tabacco, dust & pollen each.
If the white noise will be an issue with you, you may want to concider the less powerful Honeywell 18155
We recommend that you operate your Honeywell air cleaner 24 hours a day because indoor air can be quickly contaminated by activity in a room, infiltration of outside air, and generation by sources of contamination. While all the air in a room will not be processed by the air cleaner, the more air circulated through the filter, the more filtered air returned to the room. Portable air cleaners will be much more effective in rooms where all doors and windows are closed.
The Honeywell True HEPA air cleaner is ready to begin cleaning the air as soon as it is removed from the carton and plugged in. Because it circulates air in a 360 degree pattern around the air cleaner, it can be placed on the floor in almost any location. However, for best performance the air outlet slot should not be blocked for at least 1 meter (three feet) in all directions.
Due to the large volume of air drawn towards the air cleaner, surrounding areas should be cleaned and/or vacuumed frequently to prevent buildup. This may help keep your home cleaner and may extend the life of your pre-filter. If the unit is placed on light colored carpeting, a small mat or rug should be used to ease cleaning and prevent any permanent staining. This is particularly important in homes with heavier contamination from smoking or fireplaces.

Upon contacting them, they have no return policy, except to ship it back at my expense, as well as having to eat the initial shipping. Since there was no choice, I did so, although I am now at the point where the 2 shipment costs are starting to approach the cost of the unit itself.
When they received it, it has mysteriously become "damaged", despite being in the same wrapper and box, therefore ineligible for any refund at all. My next step would be to file a damage claim with UPS. I can guess how well that will go.
Needless to say, this is my last experience with this company

17005, Honeywell QuietCare Programmable Air Purifier with Permanent True HEPA Filter Review

(More customer reviews)So far I really like this air cleaner. I moved up to this model from a smaller Honeywell cleaner for a couple of reason. One being more air volume moved per hour, and the second is the larger, more "permanent" filter. The pre-filter should be changed every 2-3 month, but the HEPA filter should last 2-3 years according to Honeywell. You can get the pre-filter for $7-$12 so that's not too bad. I had to replace the filter on my smaller unit every month or two and it was $15 each time.
I do wish this cleaner was a touch more quiet, but what noise it does have would not prevent me from purchasing this unit again.
I have this unit located in the garage not far from a 19" TV that is also remote controlled. Although, I don't use the remote that came with the air cleaner, I did find that the mute button on my TV remote would not only shut the air cleaner off, but would also reset to it factory specifications, so I would loose the time on the clock and any of the two programs you can run.
This started happening right after I got it, and it took me the next day to finally figure out what was causing the random shut-downs. I'm glad now I didn't pack the unit up and return it. The simple solution was to cut a little piece of black electrical tape and place it over the IR eye of the air cleaner. Problem solved.

One was actually oozing the stuff. Now the house smells like motor oil; not good for those of us who are chemically sensitive. Not highly impressed; I would like to find a better vendor that carries these older replacement parts.

The warranty is unbeatable. It's super easy to care for. The filter is very accessible. My husband has terrible sinus problems and this machine has been keeping him medication free since we purchased it. You can sign up for an automatic filter replacement program where the new filter is delivered automatically when it's time to change (every six months is recommended in order to maintain the 10 year warranty). It's costly, but worth it compared to the junk that you can buy in an average retail store. You can tell as soon as you open it that it's built to last.

Vent Register Filters Review

(More customer reviews)These filters do exactly what the package claims: "Helps trap dirt, dust, smoke, and pollen size particles." They are not HEPA filters and do not claim to remove all allergens or dust. But it definitely helps, and I figure it can't hurt, especially at a price this low - around $.33/filter!
The filters are easy to install, just remove your vent cover and insert the filter from the bottom. They can be cut to achieve a good fit. After 90 days or so, they can be carefully removed and you will see lots of dust and particles trapped in the filter, on both sides. This system is as effective at keeping particles out of your HVAC system as it is for keeping the system from spreading dust through your home, so I leave them in year round, even though we do not need to use our system in the summer months, just to prevent dust and dirt from entering the ducts. Last summer we did some renovation work. After running the system in the winter after the project, I found that the vents captured a lot of sawdust that had found it's way into the HVAC system. I'm glad these filters were in place - otherwise that sawdust would be spread around my home right now.
You can even reuse the filters, lowering cost of use to near $.15 or even lower - just wash them thoroughly with water, hang dry, and replace.

HOLMES HAP240 Air Purifier Review

(More customer reviews)With 100 watts and a tiny coverage, this purifier is not energy efficient. The HEPA filter replacement for this product is so overpriced that the difference between the filter and the complete unit is only about $5-$10. Worse, Holmes stated that the HEPA filter must be replaced on 3-6 months of continued use. That's a pretty short life.
Quiet? nah. In fact it ties on loudness (on mid setting) with my Hamilton Beach TrueAir 04161, just slightly quieter on high setting ,and actually louder in lowest setting. The sound produced is also a rough motor type sound, which is not so pleasant to hear.
Its CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate, a measurement standard for air purifiers -- www.cadr.org) is only a measly 55-70.
However, it does its job removing particles from the air quite well on high setting.
If you can, get a better air purifier that has a cheap and long lasting HEPA filter.
