The products in the refrigerator might not last longer or go through any transformation, but one can definitely tell that the refrigerator smells cleaner. It can be argued that this could've been achieved with a cup of baking soda as well, but this product is a nie substitute.

This unit is not whisper quiet but on low it will remind you of white noise piped in at your office and is not bad. Medium and High fan speeds will move the air and can clear a sudden problem. These units have been effective in negating carpets that have had too much cleaning with that dry powder,chem-dry type of carpet cleaner that never comes all the way out of the carpet and later on causes the "lung slime" problems. They offset the dust and pollen blowing in from the road and storms and seasonal build-ups, they stop the stink of the dog and the cat box, they eliminate that stinky feet smell from an old bedroom and catch the cloud of insecticide that the neighbor's pest control man hoses around the yard. Any wonder these units were at ground-zero? Heavy use of the unit may result in need for replacement filters - which although they should last 5-years - sometime only go 1 or 2-years before they start blowing a funky smell (my sign it's time to change). Replacement filters are expensive at $200 to $250, representing half the cost of new unit. The switches on a few units that had lots of back and forth switching have stopped working properly but can be sent in for warranty work. Steel case and casters is a plus for this heavyweight.

(More customer reviews)While you get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of the filtration, this is the most worthless air purifier I have ever owned.
Instead of having an AC centrifugal blower as your typical air purifier does, this has (2) brushless DC motors, similar to what is used in your computer. The amount of air these fans move is negligible. On high, they move 26.5 cfm combined.
The power cord input is placed awkwardly on the left side. The retaining clips on the top cover are weak, and I would imagine they will break if the cover is removed often.
When it is running, it is almost silent, even on high.
I have given it 3 stars because it does exactly what is stated. It has cheap build quality, does not move a sufficient volume of air, and is overall a poorly designed product for the $80+ price tag.
Also be aware, the fitters need to be changed every 2000 hours (hepa and charcoal), and the photo-catalyst filter every 4500 hours, and the UV light every 3-5 years. Assume it will cost about as much as the entire assembly to replace the filters every 4000 hours.
I have returned my filter due to its insufficient filtering capacity and purchased a different filter.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this product (Oreck XL professional air purifier from Oreck website). I have to admit, I had a very small "Ionic Breez"Air-purifier and it work fine. But This product is worth EVERY Penny of it! So easy to set up and boy I breath so well at night. I had a bad cold just last week, I feel that this air-purifier really helped me to over come my flu faster! I got one for my living room and one for my bedroom!
What I love about it:
1. Has 4 seeped (Quiet, Med. High,and Turbo). I used Turbo during my cooking and it really works fast to get rid of the onion and garlic smell in the house! Please note that Turbo is loud so if you set on turbo make sure you are not watching anything on TV. Quiet mode is really quiet.
2. BREEZE to clean! NOTE: during the use you will hear "sparky" noise, please don't be scare, this is normal and it means some of the dusts got into the machine and it is working. It is not a noise that you hear on a regular bases. I noticed it last night and remembered that I have not vacuum my house for now a week! You will notice amazingly LESS dust around the house!
3. Its Stand alone and you can put it anywhere! Some air-purifier should not be close to TV or other electronic equipment, but not this one. I have it set not that far from my TV and it works perfect :-)
4. The quality of AIR is so amazing, I have neighbors that smoke and unfortunately the smell comes to my house sometimes, but since I set this in my living room, i don't have any issues with smell!
5. The filter is so easy to clean and you don't have to buy anything if you don't want to. They offer the odder remover filter (which you do have to replace once a year). But note that it works without it and the main filter is a permanent one.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT :
The only thing that I really was uncomfortable with at first, was its PRICE. Yes, it is very pricey but keep that in mind you are paying for a very high quality item. But I really LOVE this air-purifier! It is THE BEST Purchase that I have ever made! If you can BUY it! You all know that AMAZON.COM are awesome to back their items up. If you buy it from Oreck website, they give you 30 days timeline to return it! But believe me You won't!

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased one of these for our house. Our family suffers from allergies which result many times in sinus infections, as well as colds. I was tired of our two young kids constantly being medicated for their runny noses and I thought this would help. My wife was a bit skeptical, but within the first 2 days of installing this air purifier in the family room the stuffy noses went away and we have not had a sinus infection (or really even a runny nose) since. I have purchased 3 more - one for each bedroom - and am very pleased with the performance. The unit is barely noticeable on the "silent" mode (I have to put my hand over it to know it is on). The kids like the "medium" setting for bedtime because it provides some "white" noise. I typically leave them on medium when we are not home. I have cleaned all of the units and it was very easy. All you do is use the brush attachment on the vacuum and clean up the front, top and inside of it. I did use the Assail a Cell cleaner on the Truman Cell - simply spray it on, wash it off and let it dry overnight. Some people have complained of the snapping or popping noise that the Oreck's occasionally make but I have only heard it a couple times and it let me know it is doing it's job. I have had overall excellent results with this air purifier and highly recommend it. The remote control is very handy. The air in our home feels and smells clean and fresh.
