(More customer reviews)I've owned this Bionaire purifier for about 8 months and so far I have no complaints. This month the red check light went on which I assumed was to replace the filter. Filter replacement was very easy. Amazon sells the filters for $25 for a two pack which is a really good deal. I noticed nose stuffiness and allergy symptoms reduced within a month after I owned the product. It quickly removes smoke and other bad smells. I enjoy the 3 settings although I mostly use the medium and high settings. Some people are picky about noise but the medium setting is just a quiet hum and of course the high setting is a little louder but I find it useful for blocking out outside noise anyway. Overall, I think this is a good product for the price.

This product is noisy and very heavy and has trouble staying in the outlet (any outlet) without another plug beneath it holding it in. In addition, within days of plugging it in, we started getting loud grinding noises. After contacting customer service, we were refused our money back and instead given a replacement purifier. The replacement has not been any different than the original. At the time of this purchase, we also purchased a "Honeywell HFD-120 Tower HEPA Air Purifier with Permanent IFD Filter, Black" from Amazon for a different room. I would highly recommend that you spend a little more money and get this one - its fantastic! We could not be more happy with the Honeywell. (Update - I noticed that since I purchased this small plug in purifier a few months ago, the price has gone down almost in half. No wonder - it wasnt worth what I paid for it and it isnt worth what they are charging now).

(More customer reviews)As others have stated, this machine is loud especially on the high setting. However, my wife and I have found that the sound actually helps us sleep by drowning out any other noise in the house. We now take it with us to hotel rooms when we travel (rarely).
My only complaint about the air filter is the blue LED light that is on constantly. It can really light up a room and we prefer the room dark. After about two years of trying to cover the light with towels or even velcro'd on pot holders - I finally took the top panel off and removed the blue LED. It was easier than I expected and didn't damage anything - which was a fear. So if offends you - blind the big blue eye.
It has also helped with our allergies, but I think at this point we'd keep it around for the noise :-)

Holmes HEPA Type Air Purifier Review

(More customer reviews)Don't buy Holmes® HEPA type Tower Air Purifier - HAP422B-U. The only virtues are superficial: the towers look elegant and take up little space. And OK in the summer it acts as a cooling fan. I don't know that it does any more than a fan.
However it came with little instructions, with no pictures, diagrams or any real explanations. Right now I am scouring the net for an 800 number. The filter is almost impossible to change. The door has to be forced open to near breaking; and while you're lining it up to close it back, three of the items keep slipping out of place. Putting it on the floor to do this doesn't help because it rolls around. I'm still not sure the door is completely shut.
I can't find any numbers to call, no online instructions, and I can't get the red change filter light to turn off now that I've changed the filter. The ion light is cool but there's no instructions as to when and how to use it.
The production must have been outsourced to China, and no translaters were hired.
